Practical Life Exercise

Practical Life exercises are the essential foundation of the Children’s House. These activities are exciting and purposeful which improve physical co-ordination as well as building confidence and independence. Children love to imitate adults. They desire to do things for themselves and enjoy mastering new skills.

Learning how to pour your own drink or fasten zips, buttons, buckles and shoelaces, sweeping, washing up the dishes, polishing, dusting and many more makes a familiar link to the child’s home life. While learning essential life skills, the children are also developing hand-eye co-ordination and the capacity to focus their attention for the entirely of an activity.

Preparation and cleaning up are an integral part of each task – all children, even the very youngest, are capable of taking this responsibility. Successful completion of such activity gives children a real sense of their own achievement, and builds their self-confidence.
